So you want to go on a River Cruise?

River Cruising is HOT and is the next BIG thing!

A River Cruise is becoming one of the most popular ways to vacation in Europe thanks to the convenience and the luxury experiences on todays river cruise ships.

Options available in Europe include the Rhine, Seine, Moselle, Main, Danube and others. Countries to be visited include Germany, Austria, Hungary,  Holland, France, the Czech Republic and Portugal.  There are other options in Asia, Africa and the US as well.

People love the smaller more intimate ships with an avaerage of 160 guests. You are made to feel so welcome as if you are home, your every need anticipated by attentive staff. You are welcomed aboard and you only have to unpack once,   you will visit many quaint villages, see historic sights and be immersed in the destinations.

So much is included in your cruise fare; excursions in every port(there are also optional tours in many ports), all meals and beer and wine at lunch and dinner(some lines include all drinks -all day).
Onboard entertainment is included and usually is a local musician or a destination expert speaking on the upcoming ports and sightseeing. Often there are specialty cruises like wine themed cruises, where an expert in winemaking will provide lectures and wine tasting too. It is a nice way to travel and meet like-minded folks.

No worries about sea sickness as river cruise ships have very little movement and you can always see the shoreline.

I recommend that you splurge for the Balcony stateroom or at least the French Balcony. Very often the entry level pricing is for a room on the first deck with small fixed windows and you may feel as if you are in a fishbowl once you start sailing.

TIP: book your cruise as far in advance as possible; many dates and itineraries sell out quickly, and you may be able to take advantage of Early Booking discounts and amenities.
